Visit from a Journalist

Karen Connolly, a journalist who is usually writing for the tabloid press and industry magazines, took time out from interviewing the likes of David Beckham and Christian Ronaldo to take up the challenge of transforming some of our year 2, 3 and 4 writers into budding reporters, investigating the appearance of some unidentified bones in the school gardens. A press conference was held with the local police and the children, armed with reporter’s notebooks, asked questions and made notes to transform into their finished articles in the ICT suite. Word games and training in how to write succinctly ensured that by the end of the week, the budding journalists were ready to record their articles and send them to the Manchester Evening News.
