Joy Project with Wigan Hospice - Group 4

We are delighted to be taking part in a joint project with Wigan and Leigh Hospice on the theme of one of our Christian Values 'Joy'.

Our fourth group of very excited pupils visited the Oak Centre at the Hospice to work alongside the Oak Centre members.

The children were once again accompanied by Mrs Kohler and Mrs Fletcher, and worked with users of the Oak Centre for the morning. The session  incorporated photography and creative writing, led by writing expert volunteer Janet, working towards an exhibition at the Hospice in October.

We shared items which bring us 'joy', which included, soft toys, trophies and lots of family photographs. Elaine, one of the Oak Centre members, bought along a very special ornament of her dog named 'puppy'! She allowed the children to photograph the little dog - they all loved it!

Another member of the Oak Centre, Stuart, once worked in a very famous camera shop and is a photography expert. He spoke to the children about cameras and told them all about processing their own images in a dark room! It was hard for the children to imagine how exciting that must have been as digital photography has made it a very different process! Stuart also bought along a very special teddy, who has been at his side for ten years since he first took ill. All the children photographed the little bear in different poses with their own special items.

It was another rewarding and fun session and, like all the others, passed by very quickly!

We would love to hear from you
