Wigan & Leigh Education Awards 2018

We always enjoy attending the Wigan and Leigh Education Awards to celebrate the achievements of schools in the borough and were delighted and honoured to be shortlisted for four awards this year. We were shortlisted in the following categories:

  1. Primary School of the Year
  2. Sustainable School of the Year - ECO Team
  3. Innovation in Technology
  4. Career Aspiration Award

We were also there to support pupil Olivia, who was nominated for the Sport's Achievement Award and swimming teacher Kay Bretherton, shortlisted in the Fitness and Wellbeing Award.

The awards were held on Thursday 14th June at Wigan and Leigh College and we were represented by pupils Lilia, Lucas, Olivia and Harrison and their families.

Olivia and Mrs Bretherton both received Highly Commended Awards in very tough categories and we were delighted to also be Highly Commended  in the Primary School of the Year and Innovation in Technology categories.

Mrs Crawford and Mrs Hayward were very excited when the ECO Team were named winners of the Sustainable School Award and ECO team members Lilia and Lucas proudly collected their award (and then held on to it very tightly for the rest of the night!).

Miss Banks and Mrs Fletcher were both very surprised when the school was named winners of the Career Aspiration Award for the upcoming Careers and Aspirations week. Miss Banks and Olivia collected the award and Miss Banks gave a short speech encouraging people to sign up to attend the Careers Week!

We always enjoy attending the awards ceremony and listening to all the inspiring stories and of course we love winning! It was lovely this year to see some of our past pupils, who now attend Standish High School, entertaining guests before the ceremony and winning awards.

We would love to hear from you
