Maisie's 'Big Day Out' to the Greater Manchester School Awards 2019

On Friday 5th July we (me, Harry, Mrs Kohler and Mrs Fletcher) went to the MEN School Awards in Manchester, which was held at the Hilton Hotel. It was really posh! We left school at 10.30am for a one hour car journey.

When we got there we had some photos taken with Lucy and Amanda from the Wigan and Leigh Hospice (because they were part of the award which was 'School in the Community' award). There was a massive mirror as we went in, I wasn't sure if it was a mirror until I saw myself!

We then went to the reception upstairs where we had drinks, an orange and peach punch then a berry flavour one. After a while, we went into the room where the awards cereminy was being held.

We sat on table 20, we were right at the back in the corner. We shared our table with Bramhall High School and their Headteacher Lynne, who was in the final for Headteacher of the Year.

We didn't win our award, but for me something better happened!

We then had our meal, which was chicken breast, potatoes, mediterranean vegetables and romesco sauce, then raspberry charlotte for dessert and some handmade chocolates.

After that we did a quiz, the prize was a big bag full of chocolate and guess what? I won! I had to go up on the stage with host Wes Butters from Hits Radio and then had my photo taken outside in the reception. Me and Harry got his autograph.

It was then time for home, I was sad that we didn't win the award, but was very happy I won the bag full of chocolate!
