Curriculum

The curriculum at St. Wilfrid’s CE Primary Academy is designed to meet the needs of all learners. The National Curriculum and Foundation Stage Curriculum are delivered in a context that is meaningful and relevant to our children. We aim for our curriculum to be exciting, challenging and to inspire children to nurture a passion and thirst for learning, encouraging inquisitiveness and confidence in our pupils.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced and is underpinned by our Christian Values. The values of trust, hope, joy, courage, kind, fair, forgive and peace are embedded within our curriculum, with love at the centre of everything that we do. At St. Wilfrid’s we prepare our pupils for their responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain, though promoting British Values (see British Values) and spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of all pupils.

At St. Wilfrid’s, we have designed our curriculum around half-termly or termly ‘Learning Challenges’, with many subjects and skills being delivered through a relevant and meaningful theme. However, some subjects and skills may be delivered discretely. Throughout the school year we organise themed days and weeks, visitors and educational visits to enrich and enhance our curriculum. We also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities (see Extra-Curricular Clubs).

If you require further information about our curriculum please contact Deputy Headteacher, Miss L Clayton, who is responsible for curriculum and assessment.
