PE and Sport Premium

The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.

2015-2016

During the previous year, the PE and sport premium funding St. Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary Academy received £9,960.This funding was used in a number of ways to enhance learning in PE and School Sport and impact on pupil attainment.

This was spent in a number of ways to enhance learning in PE and school sport for all pupils and specific groups of targeted children.

These included:

  • CPD for teachers to work alongside PE Specialists to provide staff development for class teachers teaching various areas of the New Curriculum.
  • Wider range of extra-curricular provision and increased participation.
  • Leadership training for pupils.
  • Continued development of Outdoor Adventurous Activities, both within and outside of the PE Curriculum.
  • Provision for less active pupils, lower ability pupils and ‘gifted and talented’ pupils.
  • More opportunities for ‘competition’ across the school, both through intra and inter-school events.
  • Collaboration with other school, through festivals, inspirational visitors and contribution towards transport for sporting events.

2016-2017

The PE and Sport Premium allocation for 2016-2017 is £9980

We have reappointed a specialist PE Teacher for this academic year to teach Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and work alongside teachers (£5,000)

This will be spent in a number of ways to enhance learning in PE and school sport for all pupils and specific groups of targeted children.

These include:

  • CPD for teachers to work alongside PE Specialists to provide staff development for class teachers teaching various areas of the New Curriculum.
  • Wider range of extra-curricular provision and increased participation.
  • Leadership training for pupils.
  • Continued promotion of living a healthy life style
  • Continued development of Outdoor Adventurous Activities, both within and outside of the PE Curriculum.
  • Provision for less active pupils, lower ability pupils and ‘gifted and talented’ pupils.
  • More opportunities for ‘competition’ across the school, both through intra and inter-school events.
  • Collaboration with other school, through festivals, inspirational visitors and contribution towards transport for sporting events.

2014-2015

During the second year of the PE and sport premium funding St. Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary Academy received £9,845 with £1625 carried over from the previous academic year, totalling £11,470.

Expenditure for 2014-2015 was £11,470. This funding was used in a number of ways to enhance learning in PE and School Sport and impact on pupil attainment.

These included:

  • CPD for teachers and subject leader.
  • Specialist sports coaches working alongside teachers.
  • Provision for less active pupils and lower ability pupils.
  • Development of opportunities to engage with Outdoor Adventurous activities both within and outside the PE Curriculum.
  • Extra-curricular provision.
  • Intra and Inter School competitions.
  • Transport to competitions, festivals and venues.
  • Intra school sport competitions resources.
  • Cross-Curricular Links.

2015-2016

The PE and Sport Premium allocation for 2015-2016 was £9,960.

We have reappointed a specialist PE Teacher for this academic year to teach Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and work alongside teachers (£5,000)

We have also reappointed a Primary PE Specialist to work alongside teachers in Key Stage 1 for half a day a week (£2,998)

The remaining balance of funding is £1,962.

This will be spent in a number of ways to enhance learning in PE and school sport for all pupils and specific groups of targeted children.

These include:

  • CPD for teachers to work alongside PE Specialists to provide staff development for class teachers teaching various areas of the New Curriculum.
  • Wider range of extra-curricular provision and increased participation.
  • Leadership training for pupils.
  • Continued development of Outdoor Adventurous Activities, both within and outside of the PE Curriculum.
  • Provision for less active pupils, lower ability pupils and ‘gifted and talented’ pupils.
  • More opportunities for ‘competition’ across the school, both through intra and inter-school events.
  • Collaboration with other school, through festivals, inspirational visitors and contribution towards transport for sporting events.
