Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to welcome you to our website.

St. Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary Academy has been delivering education as part of the Standish Community for many years and we are very proud of all that has been achieved. We are very much a family who work closely together to ensure that all children are happy and achieve well. We enjoy close links with St. Wilfrid’s Church and we are very proud of our strong and distinctive Christian identity, culture and ethos, which permeates all aspects of school life.

St. Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary Academy is part of the Learning Together Trust, a family of four Primary Schools, who benefit from collaboration and enhance children's education by sharing ideas and expertise with each other.

In September 2007, Ofsted judged the school to be Outstanding in all areas. We are very proud of this and the significant achievements of all our children. During January 2018, we had an extremely successful SIAMs inspection, which was also judged to be outstanding in all areas. We have been successful in achieving a range of awards and accreditations.

In June 2019, we were awarded ‘Primary School of the Year’ in the Wigan Education Awards, which we are immensely proud of. In November 2020, St. Wilfrid's Church of England Primary Academy was named in the 'Top 250' State Primary Schools in England in 'The Sunday Times'.

I hope that you find the information on our website useful, giving you an insight into the life and work of our school.

Mr. Stuart Colothan

Executive Headteacher
