Armistice Day
Year 6 marked the anniversary of Armistice Day by attending a small service at the Peace Gate, St Wilfrid's Church. Together with members of the St Wilfrid's clergy, Standish community and veterans, they sang a hymn, prayed, observed the two minute silence, heard the last post and the reveille. It was a very moving ceremony, but very cold as you might be able to tell on some of our photographs!
After the service the children visited the local cenotaph to read the biographies of local people who lost their lives in the wars. Some children recognised members of their families who are named on the war memorial.
