Patron of Reading

My name is Simon Adepetun (pronounced ar-de-pet-tun)

I am a writer, children author and your Patron of Reading.

A Patron of Reading is someone chosen by the School to help make reading so much fun.

The person is a friend of the school, so friends, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in Manchester but now live in Warrington with my wife who’s a midwife.

We have 3 children, Toni who likes to draw, Benjamin (he likes computer games) and Daniel who loves football.

Growing up I always wanted to be a footballer until I discovered I could write stories really well. I studied English and Theatre Studies in university and was so proud to win the award for the best creative writer.

The first book that I wrote is called The BeeHive novel. My daughter Toni helped to draw the illustrations and design the book. My second book is about marshmallows!!!

When I’m not working I spend my time with my family.

Oh by the way, I have 2 superhuman powers. I have a very loud clap and I can wriggle my nostrils!!!

I am so thrilled to be your Schools’ Patron of Reading and special Friend.

A message to our school from our Patron of Reading, Simon Adepetun…

Dear children of St Wilfrid’s Primary Academy, Standish… It’s Simon Adepetun here, local children writer, author and St. Wilfrid’s Patron of Reading!

Reading is so important which is why I wrote an adventure story called The Bee Hive, my teenage daughter illustrated it and a publisher turned our story into a book for you all to enjoy reading, along with books from your other favourite authors. Reading is so much fun especially when you enjoy it. Now I travel the country encouraging pupils like yourselves to pick up a book read enjoy reading and even write your own awesome stories.

So, don’t forget, pick up a book, read it, enjoy it!
