Reading Rabbits
Meet two special members of our St. Wilfrid’s school family: two beautiful mini-lop rabbits.
The rabbits have been introduced as part of our focus on wellbeing across our school community. They are only eight weeks old and will be housed in the KS2 garden. Teachers will be taking their classes to regularly visit the rabbits and the rabbits especially enjoy listening to children read!
Children thought very hard about our new pet names and as they are Reading Rabbits, we decided to think of some author names…
Murphy (after the author Jill Murphy) and Kipling (after Rudyard Kipling)
Kipling - named after Rudyard KiplingRudyard Kipling is one of the best-known of the late Victorian poets and story-tellers. He was an English writer who wrote some of the most famous short stories, novels and poems ever written in the English language, such as The Jungle Book and Just So Stories.’ He was born Joseph Rudyard Kipling on December 30th, 1865 in Bombay, India to John Lockwood Kipling, a pottery designer and sculptor, and Alice Kipling. |

Murphy - named after Jill MurphyJill Murphy was born in London on the 5th July 1949. She is a much loved British writer and illustrator of children's books and is best known for the Worst Witch novels and the "Large Family" picture books. |
