The Brick Food Collection
Thank you to Chris, who is a volunteer at the Brick Project, for giving his time to come into school and lead our morning assemblies on November 27th.
He talked to the children about the history of the project, which has been running in Wigan for over 15 years. He bought with him a food parcel to feed a family for just three days and explained to the children the sort of items that make good donations.
Our collection will take place Monday 2nd December to Friday 6th December. Items can be handed in at our office or via your child's classroom.
Your kindness has increased every year and we have been amazed at the amount of donations, to support Wigan families, which have been sent into school. Last year we managed to fill the van three times. Do you think this year together we can fill a lorry?
Here is a suggested list of items from the Brick:
· Cereal
· Pasta/rice
· Cooking sauce (pasta/curry)
· 2 tins of meat (e.g. corned beef, hot dogs)
· 2 tins of vegetables
· 2 tins of beans
· 2 tins of soups
· 1 tin of fruit and custard/rice pudding
· 1 tin of fish
· 1 tin of potatoes
· Bread
· Biscuits/snacks
· Tea bags/coffee
Families are also supplied with toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel, deodorants etc.
Leading up to Christmas special hampers are put together containing items which will give the families a small amount of joy during the christmas period. These can contain:
- Christmas puddings
- selection boxes
- biscuits
or any other non perishable Christmas food items.
Thank you.
