St Wilfrid’s qualify for the Wigan Hockey Finals

On Monday 16th October, ten children from Year 6 represented the school at the West Wigan Quicksticks hockey championships. The competition was held at Dean Trust Academy and consisted of twenty other schools from the local area. For this event we entered two teams to compete. Team 1 was made up of Theo L, Joseph P, Matthew P, Madeleine N and Jessica H. Within their group stage, they played four matches and won all four matches to finish top of their group. Team 2 was made up of Cameron W, Tommy G, Jack P, Annika B and Holly F. In their group, Team 2 finished with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. At the end of the group stages, St Wilfrid’s Team 1 and Team 2 finished top of their respective groups, and would now go through to play in the Quicksticks Finals on another evening. All the children were fantastic and played some incredible hockey in very windy, and difficult playing conditions.

Well done!
